The network, which operated in the regions of Maresme and La Selva, as well as other areas in Catalonia, Andalusia, and Bulgaria, has been the subject of an investigation initiated in 2025. Among those arrested were individuals apprehended in municipalities such as Lloret de Mar and Tordera.

The main leader of this organization, classified by Europol as a High Value Target, was located and arrested in Sofia. The investigation began after detecting the entry of illegal firearms from Turkey, which were then distributed to criminal groups operating in Catalonia.

According to police authorities, the group had a very consolidated structure and operated in several European countries. The organization combined arms trafficking with drug trafficking and money laundering, using artisanally modified weapons and vehicles with hidden compartments for illicit transport.

During the operation, agents confiscated seven semi-automatic pistols, a weapon of war, silencers, and other devices. Regarding drugs, nearly 600 kilograms of marijuana and over 70 kilograms of hashish were seized, with an estimated illicit market value of 4.4 million euros. The investigation remains open, and further arrests are not ruled out.
