The Malgrat de Mar Council has launched a specialized project to recover natural habitats along the Tordera river and the rec Viver canal this March 2026.

With a budget of 88,030 euros funded by the Catalan Water Agency (ACA), the initiative aims to protect the local environment and improve fluvial ecosystems. The project also encourages community involvement through environmental volunteering programs.
While the structural improvements to the Tordera river terrace are already finished, recent rainfall has delayed work on public use regulation and morphological recovery at rec Viver. These tasks are expected to be completed within the next two months.
Additionally, an international scientific congress on flood management will take place on April 10 and 11. Experts will gather in the Maresme region to discuss river management strategies and flood prevention risks.
