Journalist and historian Joan Safont has been awarded the Irene Polo Prize by the Institute for Catalan Studies (IEC) for his biography of Josep Pallach.

The winning book, Josep Pallach, política i pedagogia. L'esperança truncada del socialisme, was chosen from six finalists. This award, presented by the IEC Philosophy and Social Sciences Section, includes a 3,000 euro prize for authors under fifty.
