Mayor David Bote and Interior Minister Núria Parlon met in Mataró this Thursday to present the 2025 security report, which highlights a record 1,283 arrests in the city.

The data reflects a 65% increase in police arrests compared to 2021. This rise is largely attributed to the Guilla units, joint patrols between Mossos d'Esquadra and Local Police. These units conducted 241 specific operations throughout the year, focusing on nightlife areas and repeat offenders.

"We have been able to catch them many times, but they will have committed even more crimes without an arrest."

While violent street robberies fell by 16.6% and home burglaries by 14.2%, petty thefts and car break-ins saw an upward trend. The regional government announced plans to expand the current police headquarters to accommodate more officers in the coming years.
