Mataró sees drop in violent robberies but rise in petty theft

Local security data shows a 16.6% decrease in violent street crimes over the last year.

The Mataró City Council presented the latest Local Security Board figures this Thursday, highlighting a significant drop in serious crimes despite a rise in opportunistic thefts.

Crime statistics in Mataró show a mixed trend. Violent robberies and intimidation on public streets have fallen by 16.6%, while forced entries into homes and businesses decreased by 14.2% and 19.3% respectively, according to official reports.

However, petty thefts have increased by 17.4% and robberies inside vehicles rose by 17.1%. Interior Minister Núria Parlon announced the implementation of the Kanpai Plan in the city to specifically target repeat offenders and improve investigation capabilities.
