This new qualification, announced this Wednesday by the Director General of Vocational Training, Ricard Coma, will offer 25 spots per intake. The initiative follows a proposal approved by the City Council in April 2025 to boost industrial training in the city.
The two-year course focuses on mechanics, pneumatics, and electronics applied to trains. Currently, this specific training is only available in Barcelona and Vilanova i la Geltrú, making Mataró a key hub for railway technical education.
The integration of this program is part of the ongoing transformation of the Miquel Biada Institute, which has been managed by the Generalitat de Catalunya since 2022. Enrollment for the new course will be open from May 26 to June 1, 2026.
