The Mataró City Council expects to open the new Animal Companion Reception Center in mid-June, marking the completion of a major 1.57 million euro project.

Located on Galícia Street, the facility will replace the temporary site at Cal Pilé used since 2017. The new center features a modern design with a veterinary clinic, training rooms, and specialized areas for up to 70 dogs and 80 cats.
Construction began in early 2025 and is now in its final stages. The project aims to modernize municipal animal services and provide better living conditions for abandoned pets in the Maresme region.
