The Joan Coromines school in Mataró suffered a significant water leak this Monday, affecting the first floor of the infant building and forcing the relocation of I3 and I4 students.

The incident began on Sunday night when a fire hydrant pipe inside the school burst. Neighbors in the Pascual Madoz street area alerted authorities after noticing water leaking from the building. Municipal services identified the source of the leak early this morning.
While cleaning crews worked to restore order, students spent the morning conducting activities in the playground. Several classrooms were damaged, and educational materials and furniture were affected by the water accumulation.

"We have a very well-developed and successful educational project, and it is a shame that the maintenance or situation of the two schools does not match it."

The school's parents' association (AFA) highlighted that the center has been operating in old facilities since 2007. Despite the damage, the Mataró City Council expects normal school activities to resume by the afternoon.
