The main novelty this season is the commitment to inclusion. The performances on January 10 and 11, 2026, will be fully accessible for people with auditory and visual diversities. These sessions will feature audio description, adapted subtitles, individual magnetic loops, and amplified sound via headphones, a pioneering initiative within the Pastorets de Catalunya circuit. The technical adaptation was carried out by the company Aptent, specializing in accessible theatre.
This production is considered one of the city's most emblematic shows and a collective holiday ritual. Els Pastorets de Mataró has been performed continuously since December 25, 1916, with the sole exception of the years during the Civil War. The work has been declared Cultural Heritage of the City of Mataró and awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi, highlighting its value as shared identity and memory.
The artistic team, comprising over 300 people including actors, orchestra, and technicians, consolidates the co-direction of Lídia Rovira and Xavier Codony. Music, a fundamental pillar, is performed by an orchestra of twelve musicians with arrangements by Joan Vives, who renewed the more than 60 original pieces. Additionally, a choir has been incorporated into the theatre's basement to reinforce the sung scenes. In total, ten performances will be offered until January 18, 2026.
