The operation, which started on Monday, October 26, focuses on renewing the network in Almeria and Vista Alegre streets (between Camí dels Caputxins and Carrer del Turó de Montgat); in Montjuïc and Carrer del Turó de Montgat streets (between Almeria and Vista Alegre streets); and along Camí dels Caputxins (between Ronda Sant Oleguer and Almeria street). These works are part of the Renewal Plan of the Water Master Plan of Mataró (2011-2025).
The project involves installing 701 linear meters of new cast iron pipes of various diameters. It will also include the installation of control valves, air release valves, and necessary discharges for the proper functioning and maintenance of the network, as well as two new hydrants to improve fire coverage in the area.
To minimize disruption to service continuity, temporary pipes will be installed to supply customers while the existing network is removed and the new one is put in place. The trench is mostly located on the sidewalk, so vehicle traffic will not be affected, except for occasional interruptions at intersections during network removal. Access to driveways will be temporarily affected with prior notice. Sidewalks will be mostly restored with 'panot' tiles, and road crossings will be repaved with asphalt, matching existing pavement characteristics.
The works will be carried out in phases to minimize disruptions, ensuring pedestrian access is always maintained. The civil works have been awarded to CATALANA EMPORDANESA DE SERVEIS, SL for €187,115.47 (VAT included), and the mechanical work is being carried out by Aigües de Mataró for €177,405.58 (VAT included).
