A 5,335 m² plot located in Turó del Sastre, on Avinguda de la Unió in Montgat, which had been unused for two decades, has been acquired by the company Infinite Eight SL for 4.356 million euros. The plot, zoned for hotel use, has 8,820 m² of buildable area above ground and borders a green zone.
This transaction could provide a boost to local economic activity, creating job opportunities during both the construction phase and the future operation of the hotel establishment. Furthermore, it is expected to encourage visitors to spend in the municipality's shops, restaurants, and services.
The sale is significant as Montgat currently lacks hotel establishments, despite its proximity to Barcelona. The mayor, Andreu Absil, considers this situation an "anomaly" and sees the activation of the plot as an opportunity for urban transformation and a potential revenue source for municipal finances through associated taxes.
The activation of this space, unused for nearly twenty years, could contribute to completing the sector's transformation and creating a new gateway to the municipality. Its strategic location in the Maresme region, close to Barcelona, positions it as an accommodation alternative for visitors in the metropolitan area.
Despite the purchase, there is no defined hotel project or construction timeline yet. The final impact will depend on the presented project, its dimensions, offered services, and its integration with the local economy, aiming to benefit the municipality's residents and businesses.
