From September 28 to October 3, Montgat will host the Senior Citizens' Week, an initiative by the City Council designed to offer a space for meeting, participation, and leisure for residents over 65 years old. The activities, held at the Senior Citizens' Center, will be free and encompass sports, cultural, and recreational proposals.
Over five days, participants can enjoy a varied program focused on well-being, including workshops, performances, and other activities designed to encourage the involvement of seniors in the municipality's community life. These events aim to boost participation and improve the quality of life for this demographic.
Montgat currently has 2,170 people aged 65 or older, representing 16.9% of the total population. Of these, 938 are men and 1,232 are women. These figures reflect a trend of population aging, underscoring the importance of initiatives like this.
The week will commence on Monday, September 28, at 6:30 PM with a self-defense workshop. On Tuesday, September 29, at 5 PM, a crafts workshop will take place. Wednesday, September 30, will feature laughter therapy, offering a relaxed space for attendees. Thursday, October 1, a musical bingo will liven up the day.
The week's closing event will be on Friday, October 2, with a concert and snack. Finally, on Saturday, October 3, at 10 AM, the activities will conclude with a chocolate and churros breakfast.
Registration, open until September 20, can be completed in the Montgat City Council's lobby. All activities are free and intended for residents over 65 registered in the municipality. The organization reminds that places are limited and advises registering in advance.
