The new waste collection and street cleaning contract in Tiana, awarded this October to Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas, will bolster services aiming for more efficient and sustainable management. Improvements will be rolled out gradually, starting with new street cleaning machinery and subsequently new garbage collection trucks.
The service will be expanded with increased frequency for container collection and emptying, becoming daily from Monday to Saturday. Three new waste collection trucks and one vehicle for bulky waste will be introduced, along with a new electric street sweeper for bins and a water vehicle for special incidents. Staff will also be increased with more operators for door-to-door collection, a new environmental educator, and additional personnel for street cleaning, including weekend reinforcements and a new incident resolution service on afternoons and Sundays.
Regarding street cleaning, personnel will be increased from Monday to Saturday, with an additional worker for weekends and holidays. A dedicated service for incident resolution will be established on afternoons, and an afternoon service will operate on Sundays and holidays. Two new street sweepers, an electric high-pressure water vehicle for incidents and special cleaning, personal mobility vehicles for street cleaners, and a new electric vehicle for emptying bins will be incorporated.
The contract also includes sustainability enhancements, such as solar panels at the street cleaning base, the use of electric blowers, and a new compactor with a shovel. All public bins in the municipality will be identified to improve monitoring, and a special leaf collection service will run from October to March.
In environmental education and citizen services, an environmental educator will be added, along with a new office for the door-to-door and waste collection service, where residents can resolve queries and collect materials. Service audits, a new emergency area, and the new "Tiana Poble Verd" branding on all contract-related elements are also planned.
