The Tiana Town Council has expanded its control actions against the pine processionary moth plague since October, combining preventive treatments and trap installation to protect public areas.

The Tiana Town Council began operations in October with a preventive non-toxic spraying treatment in dense pine areas to prevent nesting in autumn. This measure has been complemented by the use of endotherapy in especially sensitive spaces.
Endotherapy, a low environmental impact treatment, has been applied in locations such as the nursery school surroundings, the dog recreation area of the Riera de Tiana, and various parks. It involves injecting a phytosanitary product into the trunk that kills the larvae when they eat the leaves.

Endotherapy is a low environmental impact treatment consisting of injecting the phytosanitary product into the trunk, which is incorporated into the plant's vascular system.

As an additional measure, nest boxes for insectivorous birds have been installed in parks such as Parc de les Olors, Vicente Lino Ferrandiz, or Can Puigccarbó. Furthermore, ring traps have been placed on pines in areas like La Virreina and Els Vessants to collect descending caterpillars and prevent them from reaching the ground.
The Town Council has also removed nests in pines that were immune to treatments and will remove specimens that manage to descend to the ground in procession. Informational signs have been installed in parks with preventive advice and the phone number for the Tiana Environment Office (93 395 51 07) to report the presence of caterpillars.
