This action is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU, included in incentive programs for self-consumption. The total investment by the council was 129,790 euros (excluding VAT), of which 80,544.10 euros were covered by a subsidy.
“"The energy transition is a necessity, and Alcanar is a municipality highly committed to seeking a more efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly environment. The new panels at the Civic Center are a very important boost because they will be dedicated to municipal self-consumption and will allow us to continue reducing emissions and energy costs."
The new photovoltaic installations are designed to supply energy to various municipal facilities. The use of solar energy, besides being environmentally friendly and inexhaustible, reduces dependence on fossil fuels and offers significant economic advantages.
With this action, the municipality of Alcanar continues its energy transformation, aligned with global sustainability goals. Previously, the City Council had already received a subsidy for the energy rehabilitation of the Les Cases d'Alcanar Retirement Home and has installed panels at the Les Cases sports courts, in addition to replacing part of the public lighting with LED technology.
