Civil Protection lowered the Inuncat plan alert to pre-alert status this Wednesday evening, after intense rainfall in Montsià, concentrated in Alcanar, required Firefighters to carry out eight services.

The alert for rain intensity, which had been activated at 5:00 PM in the Montsià region, has been reduced, confirmed Imma Soler, Deputy Director General of Coordination and Emergency Management. The Inuncat pre-alert phase was initially activated after the Catalan Meteorological Service (SMC) warned of precipitation exceeding 20 liters per square meter in 30 minutes.
The Generalitat Firefighters responded to eight incidents related to flooding of basements and parking lots, mostly concentrated in the municipality of Alcanar, during the peak rainfall period between five and seven in the afternoon. Although the mobile alert ended at 7:00 PM, the request for prudence remains in place.

"Although the situation is calmer, we continue to ask the population for prudence and to avoid streams and rivers due to the possibility of water accumulation and overflow. There is no risk situation."
