The recovery project for the Molí de Miralles, located in the Plaça de l'Aube, is a key action included in Amposta's proposal for the Pla de Barris i Viles (Neighborhood and Town Plan). This construction, of high historical and architectural value, was built using remains of the ancient Castell d'Amposta (Amposta Castle), a fact especially visible in the preserved archway.
The building, first documented in 1487, had fallen into ruin after the siege by the troops of Joan II. It operated for grinding and pressing olives until the turn of the 21st century. The council acquired it in 2023 for 97,000 euros with the firm commitment to preserve this heritage.
The initial planned actions focus on repairing the roof, consolidating the interior structure, and sealing the space to prevent further degradation. Mayor Adam Tomàs anticipates that the complete rehabilitation, which will be driven by funding from the Generalitat (Catalan Government), can be executed within a period of between five and eight years.
The mill is cataloged as a Local Cultural Asset (BCIL) and is part of both the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia and the historical heritage catalog of the POUM, ensuring its protection and the definition of its future uses.
