Santa Coloma de Queralt hosted the first edition of the Sikarra Festival this weekend, an initiative by the Folk al Carrer association that brought folk music to various locations in the town.

The festival began on Friday, July 10th, at the castle with the screening of the documentary “Amb un tros d’acordió,” followed by a discussion with director Irene Augé. The day continued with a storytelling session for children by Marta Cruz from Clau de Conte, and a concert by Folkatr3s in the Plaça de l’Església, concluding with a popular dinner.
On Saturday, July 11th, the castle hosted an introductory workshop on castanets led by Víctor Pedrol, which saw good participation. At midday, a musical aperitif with Suara was held, followed by a popular paella to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Folk al Carrer, the organizing association.
The afternoon saw the festival's final stretch with an introductory workshop on Galician tambourine and traditional singing in the Plaça de l’Església, led by Eva López from Namorala Pandereteiras. The group subsequently performed a concert. The Sikarra Festival concluded with a popular dinner and performances by Cor d’Arrels, Albéricas, and DJ MaRu(jas).
