The Amposta City Council announced an investment of 881,000 euros aimed at renovating the municipal football stadium and the athletics and rugby stadium, supported by the Generalitat's Sports Facilities Shock Plan.

The total investment of 881,000 euros will be executed this year, with a contribution of 616,000 euros from the Generalitat de Catalunya. This comprehensive upgrade of the city's sports infrastructure will directly benefit more than 880 athletes in Amposta.
Regarding the municipal football stadium, the project has a budget of 431,000 euros. The works include changing the turf, improving the lighting of the annex field, and adapting the spaces designated for players and benches. Mayor Adam Tomàs explained that there are also plans to set up a specific training area for goalkeepers.
The municipal athletics and rugby stadium will receive 450,000 euros. The most notable action is the replacement of the athletics track's tartan, a surface over 20 years old that has reached the end of its useful life. Lighting will also be renewed, the perimeter fence improved, and the track direction changed, linked to the future construction of a tunnel.

"These investments will have a direct impact on the daily lives of over 880 athletes and reinforce Amposta's role as a reference sports city."

Iris Castell · Councillor for Sports of Amposta
Sports entities have welcomed the announcement enthusiastically. Carlos Gilabert, president of the Club Futbol Amposta, thanked the constant support. Meanwhile, Enric Obiol, technical director of the Unió Atlètica Montsià, celebrated the tartan renewal as an action “historically demanded.”
