The family business Amsafresh, specializing in citrus fruits, has launched a modernization project at its facilities in Amposta, Montsià, with financial support from the Institut Català de Finances (ICF).

The company, dedicated to the production, marketing, and export of citrus fruits, will enhance its production system through a comprehensive machinery overhaul. This project aims to increase production capacity by 30% and optimize processes.
The investment includes the implementation of new weighing machines, automatic boxing machines, frames, and conveyor belts. These improvements are intended to reduce errors in fruit packaging, lower energy and maintenance costs, and establish a more efficient, flexible, and competitive production model.
The ICF has provided financing through two operations: an ICF EcoVerda InvestEU loan and an advance on a grant from the Institut Català d'Energia (ICAEN). These loans are backed by the European Investment Fund (EIF), supported by the EU's InvestEU program, which promotes sustainable investments in Catalonia.
Vanessa Servera, CEO of the ICF, emphasized the institution's commitment to Catalan companies, particularly in key sectors like agri-food. "We want to contribute to making favorable resources available to rooted family companies that are committed to modernization," she stated.
Amsafresh's facilities in Amposta cover 11,000 m², including a 6,700 m² industrial warehouse and offices. The company, with origins dating back to 1961, manages 500 hectares of cultivation and markets over 30 million kilograms of fruit annually, collaborating with more than 100 farmers.
