56-year-old man dies in workplace accident in Alcanar after structure collapses

A 56-year-old worker died on Thursday, February 5, in Alcanar (Tarragona) after a large structure collapsed and hit him while he was performing maintenance work at a local company.

The Mossos d’Esquadra from the Amposta police station received the alert about the incident at 4:48 PM. The accident occurred while the man was working inside the company premises.
The exact reasons for the structure’s collapse are currently under investigation. The impact proved fatal, and emergency medical services arriving at the scene were unable to save the man’s life.
Several patrols of the Mossos d’Esquadra, units of the Bombers de la Generalitat, and personnel from the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) were dispatched to the site of the accident.
The Mossos d’Esquadra have reported the incident to the duty investigating court and the Departament d’Empresa i Treball (Department of Business and Labor), following the established protocol for fatal workplace accidents.
