This decision was announced during the awards ceremony of this year's event, held in Pont de Suert. The request to host the conference was promoted by the Associació Cultural i Veïnal Lo Rafal and the Alcanar City Council.
The Culture Councilor of the Alcanar City Council, accompanied by the president of the Associació Cultural i Veïnal Lo Rafal, received the symbolic baton from the general secretary of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The unique geopolitical and cultural character of Alcanar as a connecting point with the País Valencià was highlighted.
“"Recercat should serve to revitalize the Terres de Cruïlla project that we share with other entities from Baix Maestrat, Montsià, and Baix Ebre."
The Associació Cultural Lo Rafal, founded in 1989 from the magazine of the same name started in 1988, is dedicated to promoting local culture, history, and heritage, organizing activities and talks.
The organization of the 2027 edition will be carried out by the Institut Ramon Muntaner (IRMU), the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Coordinadora de Centres d’Estudis de Parla Catalana (CCEPC), and the Federació d’Ateneus de Catalunya (FAC), in collaboration with Lo Rafal and the Alcanar City Council. The candidacy has the support of various local and cultural entities.
Recercat, an initiative of the IRMU under the motto 'Weaving cultural community,' annually brings together over 200 entities from the Països Catalans. Its program includes conferences, debates, screenings, exhibitions, and performances, establishing itself as a meeting point for local and regional study centers and ateneus, emphasizing their role in Catalan culture and identity.
