The new mayor of Alcanar, Marc Chavalera, signed the decree delegating competencies to the councillors this Tuesday, confirming the structure of the municipal government and the entry of Anna Chillida (ERC).

Following his inauguration, Chavalera, who serves as Head of Personnel, retains the departments of Economy and Finance, Human Resources, and the Alcanar Municipal Music Band. Furthermore, he remains in charge of Fisheries, which now incorporates Agriculture and Rural Environment.
Regarding the Deputy Mayoralties, Councillor Neus Sancho (PSC) continues as First Deputy Mayor, managing Governance and Security, the Municipal Works and Services Brigade, and Strategic Projects. Xavier Barrera, Marc Sancho, and Àxel Sorolla, all from Esquerra a Alcanar, continue as second, third, and fourth Deputy Mayors, respectively.
The main novelty is the incorporation of Anna Chillida (ERC), who took office during Chavalera's investiture plenary session. Chillida assumes five key departments: Commerce and Business, Municipal Markets, Childhood, Adolescence and Youth, Citizen Participation and Transparency, and Link with the Valencian Country.
Councillors Xavier Barrera and Àxel Sorolla maintain their areas unchanged. Barrera continues with Education, Culture, Traditions, Promotion of the Catalan Language, Festivals, and the Elderly. Sorolla remains with Sports, Environment, Health, and Animal Welfare. Mireia Garriga incorporates the Alcanar Platja department into her responsibilities for Urban Planning and Heritage.
Finally, Mar Sancho manages six departments in total, including Communication, Social Affairs and Families, Equality Policies and the LGTBI+ collective, Reception and New Citizenship, and Tourism. It should be noted that the delegation of matters to the councillors only entails powers of direction and management, excluding resolution powers, which remain with the Mayor's Office, the Local Government Board, or the Plenary.
