The Amposta City Council has announced a 71,000 euro investment for 2026 aimed at installing video surveillance cameras at various key points in the city and its access routes.

This initiative, which began last week with the placement of the first camera in the Castell and celòquia area, seeks to strengthen public safety and traffic monitoring.
Over the coming weeks, five additional cameras are planned for installation at the main access points of the municipality, along with three more in isolated areas and other strategic locations. Furthermore, a continued investment is planned, including seven cameras in the Plaça del Mercat, equipped with video surveillance systems and license plate readers.
This action is part of the municipal strategy for 2026, focusing on improving traffic video surveillance and protecting public buildings. Since 2023, the implementation of cameras at the city's access points has proven crucial for resolving criminal incidents, both in Amposta and in neighboring towns.
