The Amposta City Council presented the gastronomic program for February at the Municipal Market, focusing on rice and artichoke to reinforce the value of local produce.

The Amposta Municipal Market was the chosen setting for the presentation of the gastronomic proposals that will fill the city during the month of February. The event was attended by the mayor, Adam Tomàs, accompanied by the Councilor for Tourism, Inés Martí, and the Councilor for Commerce and Municipal Market, Anna Tomàs, along with representatives of the local restaurant sector.

"As every year, we like to present these activities here at the Municipal Market, because it is the cathedral of quality and proximity products. It is the space where the essence of our countryside is identified and where we want to strengthen the bond with the citizens."

The program kicks off with the Artichoke Gastronomic Days (Jornades Gastronòmiques de la Carxofa), which will take place from February 6 to March 8, offering special menus at participating restaurants. Starting February 12, the Platerets Route will begin, lasting two weeks, from Thursday to Sunday, with the participation of nine to ten bars and restaurants. Establishments will offer a tapa and drink for 5 euros, with the chance to win a meal if a minimum of three 'platerets' are tasted.
The central event will be the Rice and Artichoke Festival (Festa de l’Arròs i la Carxofa), scheduled for February 22, from 11 am to 4 pm. During the day, tapas from participating restaurants can be sampled, and starting at 1 pm, the popular dish will be served with artichoke, botifarra, bread, longaniza, and allioli, priced at 7 euros. The festival will also include music with DJ Xavier Reverté and a local product market area. Furthermore, the Terres de l’Ebre Museum will offer open doors throughout the Festival weekend, which is sponsored by the Cambra Arrossera del Montsià and CartoDelta.
