Firefighters Respond to 135 Calls Due to Rain Storm in Catalonia

The Generalitat Firefighters responded to 135 incidents across Catalonia between 2:00 PM on Thursday and 7:00 AM this Friday, primarily due to the rain storm.

The majority of interventions involved affected urban furniture, fallen electrical cables, and trees or branches posing a hazard on public roads. According to details shared by the Firefighters on the social network X, no significant incidents were reported after 7:30 PM on Thursday.
During Thursday afternoon, emergency teams carried out the rescue of a sailboat that had sunk in La Ràpita. They also assisted several vehicles that became trapped on El Trabucador beach due to rising sea levels.
Official figures indicate that 94 calls were attended between 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM on Thursday. Subsequently, from the evening until 7:00 AM this Friday, an additional 41 interventions were recorded.
The Meteorological Service of Catalonia (Meteocat) has confirmed a return to calm this Friday, following a night characterized by "significant stormy activity" throughout Thursday afternoon and evening. By early Friday morning, no major cloud cover was observed over Catalonia.
The most notable rainfall recorded since 8:00 PM on Thursday occurred in the Western Pyrenees, exceeding 30 millimeters, while the Eastern Pyrenees and the Northeast accumulated over 20 millimeters.
