The Mossos d'Esquadra police force has reported a waste management company in Ulldecona for spreading livestock manure on a plot of land located dangerously close to a municipal drinking water well.

The incident occurred on February 3rd, following an alert from the Local Police. Officers from the Regional Environmental Unit confirmed that the company was failing to observe the mandatory safety distances required by current agricultural regulations.
According to Law 18/2001 on agricultural management, the application of such waste must respect specific buffer zones around water extraction points. This measure is crucial to protect underground water reserves from potential nitrate pollution.
The joint operation successfully identified the responsible party and halted the activity on the farm. The case has been referred to the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food, which holds the authority to issue the corresponding penalties.
