A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Alcanar by the National Police on charges of sexual harassment of minors and child pornography. The victims, all girls aged between 9 and 17, were subjected to harassment through social media.
According to the investigation, the accused, who was unemployed and spent long hours in his parents' room, used electronic devices such as mobile phones, computers, and tablets to locate and psychologically manipulate the minors. Analysis of these devices revealed the possession of 2,958 photos and 213 videos of child pornography.
The man attempted to contact approximately 200 minors, successfully maintaining a virtual relationship with 37 of them, of whom 21 were directly harassed. He faces charges of sexual harassment of minors, exhibitionism, sextortion, and child pornography.
The case came to light following a report by an 11-year-old girl from Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura, and her mother. The minor recounted how a supposed 16-year-old adolescent, named 'Alex', with whom she began a virtual relationship through a video game, eventually sexually harassed her.
The police investigation determined that 'Alex' was a fake profile created by the 26-year-old man, using images of other minors. The accused gained the girl's trust, requesting increasingly explicit sexual material through platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Telegram, and WhatsApp. When the minor tried to distance herself, he threatened to publish the content and inform her friends and family.
Police have confirmed the identification of most of the victims and have assured that both they and their families are receiving the necessary psychological and legal support.
