Several mayors from the Terres de l'Ebre region expressed their frustration this Saturday with the Catalan Government over the lack of official emergency protocols during a severe windstorm.

Local authorities compared the current situation to last Thursday, when the Generalitat triggered widespread alerts and closed schools for an event that barely affected the south. In contrast, today's storm brought gusts of 146 km/h to Mas de Barberans and 132 km/h to El Perelló without similar preventive measures.

"It is surprising that when the warning is in the central part of the country we either confine or apply strong measures everywhere, and when it is at the extremes, nothing happens."

The wind caused fallen trees, power outages lasting up to ten hours, and the closure of the AP-7 highway. Mayors like Adam Tomàs from Amposta had to take independent action to ensure citizen safety as official Civil Protection alerts arrived late.
