The president of the local ERC section, Cristina Sales, explained that requests filed by the opposition, following a trip to Santander related to the acquisition of the electric boat La Perla, prompted a formal request for information on Mayor Adam Tomàs's expense claims. Municipal services and Intervenció (Audit) concluded that “there is no record of any service indemnity received by the mayor or any member of the governing team for this trip or other displacements such as Fitur,” according to documentation reviewed since 2015.
At the request of Junts per Amposta, the City Council detailed that the total amount received by Adam Tomàs over ten years (since 2015) is 2,627 euros, corresponding exclusively to mileage and travel, with no claims for meals. This amount is broken down into 0 euros between 2015 and 2019, 2,148 euros from 2019 to 2023, and 478 euros between 2023 and 2025.
“"Esquerra Republicana's goal is to offer transparency and rigor, and to prevent the generation of unjustified doubts about the honorability of individuals."
In the spirit of transparency, ERC Amposta also requested data on the expense claims of former mayor Manel Ferré. The Intervenció report indicates that between 2007 and 2015, 51,407 euros were received, a figure that did include meals and which, according to the party, is currently the subject of an open judicial procedure.
Mayor Adam Tomàs described the accusations as “surprising,” noting that his expenses amount to little more than 20 euros per month over ten years, and that many institutional events and meals have been covered by the councilors themselves. Finally, ERC Amposta announced that it will bring a motion to the next plenary session to rigorously verify data before making public statements and to create a specific section on the transparency portal to consult the mayors' expenses.
