The leadership of Junts per Catalunya has formally requested that councillor Èric Esteban return his seat in Amposta after his departure from the party this February.

The move comes after Esteban announced he was leaving the party to join the non-attached group. Junts officials stated that the councillor admitted to having talks with other political organizations before his resignation.

"We consider that these contacts and the decision to move to the mixed group respond to personal interests."

While rumors suggest Esteban might join Aliança Catalana in the capital of Montsià, the local Junts group led by Manel Ferré has vowed to continue its work as the main opposition to the current local government.
