The intervention includes various structural and functional improvements. A complete renovation of the changing rooms is planned, involving the demolition of existing ones to build new ones and the installation of a ventilation system. Technology will also be updated with a new scoreboard and electronic curtains, the fire prevention system will be renewed, windows will be replaced, and the upper seating area will be improved.
The Councilor for Sports, Mireia Balada, denounced the state of neglect of the facilities at the beginning of the term, citing maintenance issues such as dampness, breakages, and rodent infestations. According to Balada, the pavilion had 'rat nests' and 'crumbling walls'.
“"I am not here to put a cosmetic gloss on the pavilion. I am here to fix it. The previous government would do a manicure or pedicure if needed, low-end, quick, pre-election makeovers."
In parallel with these works, the replacement of the roof is planned, an action that will be brought before the next council meeting. Furthermore, a new management model for the pavilion's bar will be offered to sports entities, allowing each club to operate the space during their competitions to generate their own resources.
The councilor highlighted that the renovations are possible thanks to the economic cleanup efforts carried out by the council over the last three years. Mireia Balada confirmed her intention to continue leading the department, following the work initiated by Mayor Javier Reverter to transform municipal infrastructure in Terres de l’Ebre.
