The Jornades Musicals de l’Ermita de la Pietat in Ulldecona are extending their program until the end of August, introducing novelties such as the presence of international bands and an effort to lengthen the concert weekends.

The 22nd edition of the Jornades Musicals de l’Ermita de la Pietat (JMEP) in Ulldecona has announced an extension of its duration, with concerts running until the end of August. This is one of the main novelties this year, the results of which will be evaluated to determine future editions. The lineup includes notable performances such as the only dates in Spain for the international tours of the Mexican and Haitian combo F-Mack and the Japanese band Super Jet Kinoko, as well as the first performance by the Catalan group Mishima at the festival.
In addition to the traditional festival days, which include the tenth reggae edition with Akatz and Culs Cults, and the pre-festival day before the main local festivities with Hip Horns Brass Collective and Bló Youth Selectors, two more weekends have been added. On August 16th, The Salsa Punk Orkestra and Fonki Cheff will perform, while August 23rd will feature the blues rock of Englishman Mike Ross.
The director of JMEP, Agustí Vericat, has positively assessed the August dates, considering them “very suitable” due to audience availability. The festival also plans performances beyond the summer, such as an immersive sound experience on October 23rd. Vericat joked about the possibility of further expanding the program in the future, depending on this year's results.
Vericat highlighted the pride in bringing internationally renowned bands like F-Mack to Ulldecona, who will perform on June 14th, followed by Super Jet Kinoko a week later, during their European tour. The performance by Mishima, initially planned twenty years ago but postponed due to their participation in Primavera Sound, will finally take place on July 12th.
The program also includes the presentation concert with Saturna on May 23rd, the Rolling Stones tribute band Smoking Stones on June 7th, and performances on June 28th with Meli Perea and Marina y su Melao. In July, July 5th will feature the reunion of Los Fulanos, and on July 19th, in collaboration with the Eufònic festival, La Gore and Mercè will perform.
This edition's aesthetic combines the sweet pink and bubblegum textures of pop with the typography of extreme metal, a concept that, according to Vericat, aims for fun and differentiation. The goal is to function as a quality brand, discovering bands and offering concerts that attract audiences.
The mayor of Ulldecona, Núria Ventura, emphasized the multiplier effect of JMEP within the Terres de l’Ebre Festivals brand, noting that the festival is “much more than music: it is culture, identity, talent, promotion, and future” for the town.
