As part of the Festa Major celebrations in Gandesa, the Archpriestal Church of La Asunción will host a special concert on Monday, September 7th. Accent Ensemble, a formation based in the Terres de l’Ebre region, will perform for the first time in the city the First and Second Hymns to Gandesa, compositions by Ramon Carnicer i Batlle dating back to 1838.
These works, created during the First Carlist War, are linked to Gandesa's resistance against the seven sieges it endured between 1837 and 1839. Their performance, nearly two centuries later, signifies the recovery of a part of the local musical and historical heritage.

The Mayor of Gandesa, Carles Luz, highlighted the historical and emotional significance of the event, emphasizing that it's about making a fundamental part of the town's identity accessible to everyone. He also thanked Accent Ensemble for their sensitivity and commitment to recovering the region's musical heritage.
Accent Ensemble, comprising Cecília Aymí López (soprano), J. Ricardo Forner Ramón (clarinet), David Matheu Haskell-Bell (viola), and Inés Reguero Tassart (piano), will also present a selection of other chamber works, blending new creations with heritage recovery.
The Gandesa City Council views this concert as a way to return cultural and historical legacy to its citizens, utilizing the Festa Major not only for celebration and community but also as a space for culture, history, and identity.
