The town of Alcanar and its fishing village, Les Cases d’Alcanar, are expanding their gastronomic offerings with the 1st 'Flavors of the Sea' Event. The celebration will take place on Saturday, June 20th, at the Port of Les Cases d’Alcanar, featuring a blend of fresh seafood, popular cuisine, and local wines.
Under the theme ‘A Dialogue Between the Sea and the Kitchen’, the event kicks off at 12:00 PM with an opening ceremony and official speeches. Until 4:00 PM, attendees can enjoy 2,000 tapas, with prawns as the star attraction. The offerings will also include oyster tasting and a popular fideuá.
Beyond the culinary delights, the event will host the exhibition ‘Dones i Mar’ (Women and Sea), focusing on women involved in the fishing and maritime sectors, aligning with the ‘Les Cases: Dones i Mar’ event scheduled from July 9th to 12th. A children's play area will also be available for families.
This initiative is organized by the Fishermen's Guild of Les Cases d’Alcanar, supported by various entities including the Alcanar Town Council, the Tarragona Province Fishermen's Association, the Terres de l’Ebre Local Action Group Association, the Government of Catalonia, and the European Union.
The 'Flavors of the Sea' event is part of the numerous gastronomic activities that Alcanar and Les Cases d’Alcanar host throughout the year, highlighting local cuisine and products. It's worth noting that until June 21st, the municipality is also celebrating the XIV Gastronomic Days of the Prawn.
