The Mossos d'Esquadra acted on March 25 in a home in Santa Bàrbara, in the Montsià region, to rescue a Saker falcon and a dog found in conditions of mistreatment and unsanitary living.

The operation, carried out by the Regional Environmental Unit of the Terres de l'Ebre Police Region, led to the discovery of several animals showing clear signs of neglect. Among them was a Saker falcon, permanently confined and tied within a room.
Officers confirmed that the animals' living space was in extremely poor hygienic conditions, with an accumulation of excrement and decomposing meat, which generated a strong odor. Furthermore, the person responsible for the animals did not possess the mandatory documentation for keeping this protected species.
Given this situation, the Mossos proceeded to seize the falcon, which was immediately transferred to suitable facilities to ensure its recovery and well-being. A dog found in similar conditions of mistreatment was also seized.
The owner of the animals has been reported for several infringements of the Animal Protection Law. The facts have been communicated to the Department of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition for appropriate action.
