Civil Protection of the Generalitat has delivered new terminals from the Emergency Radio Communication Network (Rescat) to the municipalities of Freginals, Godall, and Paüls, improving response capabilities in emergency situations.

The Sala Terres de l’Ebre at the government delegation hosted the handover ceremony for this equipment, which is part of the Rescat Network of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The initiative aims to enhance safety and coordination in municipalities, particularly those in rural areas where conventional communications can be more vulnerable.
The Government Delegate for Terres de l’Ebre, Joan Castor, highlighted the importance of this technology: "This technology allows us to strengthen response capacity, especially in rural areas, where communications can be more vulnerable in emergency situations." He emphasized the need to anticipate events and equip municipalities with adequate tools for preparedness.
The new RESCAT Network radios are designed to facilitate direct communication between municipalities and the Centre de Coordinació Operativa de Catalunya (CECAT) of Civil Protection. This ensures a robust connection even if regular telephone and internet networks fail, guaranteeing effective coordination of resources during critical moments.
The Rescat Network, already equipped with over 38,000 active terminals serving nearly 50,000 users, includes forces such as the Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan Police), Bombers de la Generalitat (Firefighters), local police, the Servei d’Emergències Mèdiques (Emergency Medical Service), and Agents Rurals (Rural Agents), among others. Its superior reliability compared to mobile telephony, its ability to withstand power outages, and the GPS tracking of terminals make it an essential tool for public safety in Catalonia.
