The PSC National Council, meeting in Terrassa, has validated the socialist candidacies for the 2027 municipal elections in Roquetes, Alcanar, Amposta, and Santa Bàrbara, reaffirming the commitment to public service.

The PSC ratified this weekend, during its National Council held in Terrassa, four candidates who will run for the mayoralties of Roquetes, Alcanar, Amposta, and Santa Bàrbara in the upcoming 2027 municipal elections. This decision consolidates the socialist presence in key municipalities of the Montsià region.
The approved candidates are for Roquetes, Josep Maria Beltran; for Alcanar, Neus Sancho; for Amposta, Pere Montañana; and for Santa Bàrbara, Cristina Guerrero. The latter was previously the number two on the 2023 municipal list. The National Council also approved the first 126 socialist candidates across Catalonia, including nine municipalities where the PSC will present a candidacy for the first time.
During his speech, the socialist leader urged the candidates to place politics "at the service of the public" and reminded them that they represent "the legacy" of socialism in Catalonia over nearly 50 years, mentioning figures such as Ernest Lluch and Pasqual Maragall.
The party leader outlined five "commandments" for a socialist leader: prioritize the people over the party, lead with representative teams, practice realism without "selling smoke," be constructive and foster pluralism, and seek challenges and opportunities even in adverse situations.
