Mossos d'Esquadra officers arrested a 56-year-old man in la Sénia on January 10, accused of drug trafficking and driving without a valid license.

Officers from the Amposta Citizen Security Unit, part of the Mossos d’Esquadra, carried out the arrest in the urban center of la Sénia (Montsià). The incident began around noon when a patrol detected a vehicle driving at an inappropriate speed.
After stopping the vehicle and identifying the driver and passenger, officers confirmed that the driver did not have a valid driving license, leading to a formal complaint. The occupants' nervousness and a strong smell compatible with marijuana emanating from the vehicle prompted a search.
During the search, the driver was found carrying a handbag containing 26 wraps of white powder, presumably cocaine, weighing approximately 20 grams. Three bags containing about 17 grams of green vegetable matter (marijuana) and 470 euros in fragmented cash were also seized.
In addition to the drugs and cash, the officers confiscated an object considered a prohibited weapon: a metallic knuckle duster with an integrated folding knife. The search of the passenger and the vehicle yielded no other items of police interest. The detainee appeared before the duty Investigating Court of Amposta yesterday.
