The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested a 56-year-old man on January 10 in la Sénia as the alleged perpetrator of drug trafficking, driving without a license, and possessing a prohibited weapon.

The arrest occurred around noon when a patrol from the Amposta Citizen Security Unit, while conducting routine duties in la Sénia, stopped a vehicle traveling at an inappropriate speed. After identifying the occupants, officers confirmed that the driver did not have a valid driving license, leading to a citation.
The evident nervousness of the occupants and a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle prompted a search. The driver was carrying a handbag containing 26 packets of white powder, presumably cocaine, weighing approximately 20 grams.
In addition to the suspected cocaine, officers found three bags containing about 17 grams of green plant matter (marijuana) and 470 euros in fragmented cash. A prohibited weapon was also seized: a metallic knuckle duster with an integrated folding knife.
Given the evidence collected, the driver was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health. The search of the companion and the vehicle yielded no other results of police interest. The detainee was brought before the court at the Amposta Duty Investigating Court.
