The Mayor of Mas de Barberans, Daniela Lleixà, has publicly denounced the recurrent power cuts affecting the municipality, the latest incident occurring Thursday morning for six hours.

The most recent interruption of the electric service occurred last Thursday at 6:30 AM, leaving residents of Mas de Barberans without supply for a period of five to six hours. The Mayor, Daniela Lleixà, used her social media channels to highlight the situation, publishing a video of the streets with intermittent power outages.

"having a town without power for 5 or 6 hours generates many inconveniences; businesses cannot work, many services cannot be offered..."

Lleixà expressed her outrage at the response received from the electric distribution company when she tried to report the fault. According to the Mayor, they informed her that she could not file the notice; it had to be done by a private individual. Furthermore, she criticized that a resident attempting to report the outage from a farm at 7 AM was asked for the last three digits of their bill, a request she described as undignified.
The Mayor stressed that these situations cause serious inconvenience, especially for businesses and services, and noted that the population of Mas de Barberans includes many elderly people. Despite the relatively quick resolution (five hours), she recalled that during the last serious episode, they were without power for 12 hours and without telephone service for 48 hours.
Daniela Lleixà recalled that, following the DANA storm in October, a meeting was held at the Consell Comarcal del Montsià with company executives to agree on a significant investment to improve the network. The Mayor is unaware if this investment has been carried out or if, having been done, it has not benefited her municipality, since 'the reality is that when it has rained again, the power has gone out again'.
