Civil Protection has lifted the confinement in Baix Ebre and Montsià, affected by intense rains, but interurban mobility restrictions remain in place until 8 PM. The Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Núria Parlon, has urged caution and thanked the emergency services for their work.
The episode has caused significant accumulations, with records of up to 249 l/m² in L'Ametlla de Mar, 231.7 l/m² in Les Cases d’Alcanar, 227 l/m² in Mas de Barberans, and 219 l/m² in Santa Bàrbara. The emergency number 112 received 501 calls for 376 incidents by 12:00 PM, mainly concentrated in Baix Ebre and Montsià.
Three reception centers have been set up in Tortosa, Ulldecona, and Amposta to assist affected individuals. Rail traffic has also been disrupted, including line R16 and high-speed services between Barcelona and Valencia.
The Generalitat Firefighters, with approximately 140 personnel, have responded to 243 calls since the episode began, mostly for flooding and rescues of people trapped in vehicles. The Rural Agents Corps is assisting with surveillance, particularly in rural areas, and the Catalan Traffic Service reports the closure of several roads, including the C-12 in Amposta and between Tortosa and Roquetes.
The Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan Police) have deployed 23 units to manage road closures and diversions. Several municipalities have decided to close educational centers. Approximately 2,000 electricity subscribers are affected in Montsià and Baix Ebre, and some municipalities are without mobile or fixed telephone service.
