The traditional Sant Jordi festival sets the stage for a cultural week in Balaguer, spearheaded by the Education, Culture, and Municipal Library departments. The agenda, spanning from April 17 to 25, features a variety of proposals such as school theater for kindergarten and first cycle primary students, book presentations, and various educational and cultural initiatives.
As a notable new addition this year, a linguistic scavenger hunt has been scheduled for 1st-year ESO students, taking place on Thursday morning. This activity aims to complement the educational offerings with an interactive and didactic proposal.
The main day of the celebration will be April 23, with all activities concentrated in the Plaça del Mercadal. This decision seeks to foster a more cohesive and participatory atmosphere in the city's Historic Center. The day will conclude with a sardana dance in the Plaça del Pou.
In the afternoon, the program includes a concert by local singer Maria Fernández, winner of the Creation Support Grant. There will also be the awards ceremony for literary prizes and the bookmark competition, followed by a family show of Rock for Kids. The cultural week will close with performances by the Choir and the combos from the Balaguer Municipal School of Music.
