The Balaguer City Council has installed four new streetlights powered exclusively by solar energy on the stairs of the Partialles neighborhood, responding to a security request from residents and serving as an energy pilot test.

This action took place on the stairs connecting Carrer de la Giradeta with Carrer Serra Vicenta, within the Secà area. The initiative arose from residents' demands to reinforce lighting in this passage, which previously had significant deficiencies, with the main goal of improving nighttime safety.

"This area was very dark at night and that generated concern among the neighbors. If the result is satisfactory, the council will evaluate the possibility of applying the same system in other parts of the locality."

The installation, which involved an investment of about 1,700 euros financed with municipal funds, allowed for cost reduction because it was executed by the technical staff of the City Council itself. If the pilot test proves satisfactory, the Balaguer council will study extending this autonomous lighting system to other areas of the city.
Parallel to the installation of the streetlights, work has been promoted to improve the surrounding vegetation, framed within the Treball als Barris (Work in the Neighborhoods) program. This complementary action seeks to optimize accessibility and visibility throughout the Secà area.
