Users of the Ruta dels Llacs, between Balaguer and Sant Llorenç de Montgai, have reported the appearance of large potholes that endanger cyclists, prompting action from the Camarasa City Council and the Generalitat.

Complaints from users who frequently use the Ruta dels Llacs (Lakes Route) on the stretch between the municipalities of Balaguer and Sant Llorenç de Montgai have increased. While months ago the presence of weeds and broken wood was reported, athletes now complain about the appearance of several sinkholes, some of considerable size, which pose a safety risk for those using this greenway.
The spokesperson for the Camarasa City Council, Elisabet Lizaso, confirmed receiving a formal complaint. Lizaso stated that the council had already detected the need to act before the situation worsened and that they have contacted the Generalitat (Catalan Government) to seek solutions, emphasizing that communication with the executive is “fluid” and the response positive.

"We are working together to find the best solutions and fix the route."

Despite the willingness to act, the spokesperson explained that recent rains have caused other incidents, such as landslides and falling debris, which required priority attention from the administration due to their urgency. In fact, on January 22, a rock slide occurred near the cycle route footbridge, forcing the closure of access from both sides.
The Ruta dels Llacs is a cycle tourism itinerary spanning 107.2 kilometers, 80.3 of which are cyclable, connecting the city of Lleida with la Pobla de Segur.
