The Artesa de Segre Town Council has launched a project to transform the staircases on Carrer Balaguer into ramps, aiming to improve accessibility and safety in the municipality's old town.

This initiative, currently in its preparation phase, includes the construction of two new ramps with handrails adapted to current regulations. The action seeks to eliminate architectural barriers that hinder daily passage, especially for people with reduced mobility, the elderly, and families with strollers.
The municipal official emphasized that the goal is to continue removing obstacles in various parts of the town. However, the current priority is focused on these stairs, which connect the urban section of the C-14, known as the Ponts road, with Carrer Balaguer, the main access route to the old town.

"The objective is to move towards a more inclusive locality and to do so as quickly as possible."

The council plans to open a tender for local companies, aiming to foster the participation of the municipality's economic fabric. Currently, the staircases are very worn and in poor condition, which has necessitated the installation of informative panels to warn of the risk of falls.
This intervention is part of a broader urban improvement strategy that prioritizes universal accessibility and cohesion across all areas of the municipality. In parallel, improvements to rural roads have been completed, costing 76,300 euros, with the aim of enhancing safety and preserving the agricultural road network.
