Lorena González, Mayor of Balaguer, confirmed yesterday that the Paeria submitted appeals against the Generalitat's Pla de Barris i Viles resolution, after the municipality failed to secure funding for its Historic Center.

The municipality, the capital of Noguera, was excluded from the first call for aid, where it aimed to receive 12.5 million euros to revitalize its Historic Center. The deadline for submitting the appeals concluded yesterday, according to the council.
The next key step, as detailed by González, will take place next week, specifically on January 22, when the commissioner of the Neighborhood Plan is scheduled to visit. The purpose of this meeting is to provide explanations regarding the resolution of the file, which is already in the hands of the City Council.

"The project was prepared by 'qualified' technicians and professional advice was sought."

The primary goal of the Paeria is to analyze the weak points of the initial proposal in order to submit a stronger application for the second call of the plan, which is tentatively scheduled to open in May. The mayor stressed that Balaguer presents socioeconomic indicators that place it among the areas most in need of this type of urban intervention.
Finally, González admitted that the non-concession of the Pla de Barris forces the City Council to rethink part of its budgetary planning, as several key projects were conditional on obtaining this important subsidy from the Generalitat.
