Junts per Balaguer has announced a reshuffle of its municipal group following the resignation of Gemma Trilla due to professional reasons, with Marc Solanes taking over as spokesperson and leader of the opposition.

The political party Junts per Balaguer announced yesterday a restructuring of its municipal group. This decision comes after the resignation of the former leader, Gemma Trilla, who has stepped down from her position due to “professional reasons”.
With these changes, Marc Solanes will take over as the group's spokesperson and become the new leader of the opposition in the Paeria de Balaguer. Additionally, professor Jesús Polo will join as a new councilor, filling the vacancy left by Trilla.
Gemma Trilla's resignation also means her departure as Education Councilor for the Consell Comarcal de la Noguera. In her place, Gemma Peries will assume responsibility for this regional area.

"The difficulty of combining political activity with her professional and personal life."

When asked if Trilla's resignation was related to recent reports about potential talks with former PSC partners in the Paeria (Treballem per Balaguer) ahead of the 2027 elections, Solanes disassociated the two events. He stated that Trilla had already decided to leave the position due to the complexity of balancing her political life with her professional and personal commitments.
Regarding the upcoming municipal elections, Solanes clarified that the resignation does not alter the party's plans, as the candidate selection process is still in an initial phase and Trilla was not slated to be the lead candidate. Finally, Junts per Balaguer expressed its gratitude for Trilla's work, highlighting “her rigor, commitment, and dedication to public service in the city”.
