The council has addressed the union's criticism by highlighting that several measures are already being implemented to strengthen the police force. Among the highlighted actions, the municipal government confirmed that the project for the future police station, which will be located in a premises adjacent to the Paeria, already has funding from the PUOSC and work is underway to accelerate its execution.
Regarding the staff, the government noted an increase in the number of officers since 2022, moving from one inspector, two corporals, and ten agents to the current structure of one sergeant, three corporals, and fourteen agents. In addition, a selection process has begun to incorporate four new agents with the goal of reducing temporary contracts and reaching a ratio of one police officer per 1,000 inhabitants.
In the labor sphere, the council highlighted the implementation of the Job Evaluation, a historical demand that has already been presented to the unions. Regarding the claimed salary supplement, the government reiterated that legal reports concluded it lacked sufficient legal coverage, although other improvements in overtime pay for municipal staff have been agreed upon.
Finally, the government listed other technical improvements, such as the renewal of the fleet with four motorcycles, the approval of the weapons regulation, the implementation of the DRAG management program, and the future installation of video surveillance cameras in the city.
