The Balaguer City Council announced a major cabinet reshuffle this February 23 following the departure of the Treballem per Balaguer group from the local government team.

The exit of the group, which previously shared power with the PSC, forced Mayor Lorena González to reassign responsibilities. The Mayor will personally manage Business and Trade, while other areas are distributed among Socialist councilors.
Under the new configuration, Sandra Madueño takes over Culture and Tourism; Borja Vega will lead Sports; and Jesús Cienfuegos adds Social Affairs, Natural Environment, and Urbanism to his duties.

"The decision is due to the failure to meet priority commitments and discrepancies in the way of governing."

The outgoing group cited issues with street cleaning and security in areas like Eixample, despite highlighting their work on the athletics track and the Almatà Plan.
